Sebastopol Senior Citizens Xmas Breakup (5 2023)

Final Christmas Dinner

As we joined together this year to celebrate Christmas and reflect on another year of shared activities, it was with the knowledge that this is the last time our members will enjoy such celebrations at our beloved venue.

Our Sebastopol Senior Citizens Clubrooms in Vickers Street were officially opened in May of 1979.  As inscribed on the plaque proudly displayed in the foyer, the building was designed

“to be used by the senior citizens of Sebastopol to unite them in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding”

And for almost 25 years, that is exactly the experience enjoyed by hundreds of Sebastopol residents who have:

  • bowled along the length of the hall,
  • engaged in card games and bingo
  • created craft items
  • organised fundraising stalls
  • performed on the stage
  • participated in a variety of social activities
  • and attended many excursions.

Throughout this time we have celebrated birthdays, dressed up for special occasions, and gathered to enjoy many meals together.

And we’ve made lasting friends.

When we resume our activities in 2024, we will be in a temporary venue, waiting until the new Sebastopol Community Hub has been developed. In the meantime, we will still be enjoying our favourite activities.
