Concrete slab layed at new venue
This morning, our club secretary, Bev Lovett, visited the site of the former Senior Citizens Hall alongside City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves, Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison, and Federal Member for Ballarat Catherine King. Together, they inspected the early stages of construction for the new Sebastopol Community Hub.
The project is progressing well, with the concrete slab set to be poured soon and the structural steel framing expected to be completed by autumn. The hub remains on track for completion in early 2026.
This community facility has been made possible through funding from all three levels of government:
- City of Ballarat: Up to $5 million
- Federal Government: $4.5 million (Investing in Our Communities program)
- State Government: $4.5 million (Building Blocks Capacity program)
The new hub will be a vibrant, multi-purpose space featuring:
✅ Three kindergarten rooms
✅ A main hall with a 150-person capacity
✅ Three meeting rooms
✅ Maternal and child health consulting rooms
✅ A community kitchen
✅ A dedicated kindergarten play space with an undercover area
✅ On-site parking
Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, highlighted the hub’s significance, stating:
“The new Sebastopol Community Hub will be a place of learning and social connection for both kinder kids and senior citizens. It will be a special, multi-generational facility that will serve our community for generations to come.”
