In the beginning
A public meeting was held at the Sebastopol Town Hall in early December of 1969 to discuss the formation of a local Senior Citizens Club. This went ahead and club members originally met at the Sebastopol RSL Hall.
In 1973 it was proposed to set aside a piece of land to erect a building for the Senior Citizens in the north-west corner of Vickers and Beverin Streets.
Tenders were requested in 1977 and the premises were opened on May in 1979.
As membership grew, so did the need for more space. An extension was added to the front of the building to provide additional rooms.
During 2024, the clubrooms were demolished, as well as the Sebastopol Childcare Centre situation on the neighbouring property in Vickers Street. The City of Ballarat used the combined space to construct the Vickers Street Community Hub with facilities to cater for the wider Sebastopol community, including a kindergarten, Maternal & Child Health and meeting rooms.
We returned to our home address to begin the 2026 year.
